WHAT WE DO

Working to give anglers more, reliable access to fishing

Recreational fishing is big business on the Gulf Coast. Many coastal communities are dependent on recreational fishing and the tourism it generates.

For-hire fishermen are the professional component of this economic machine because many offshore anglers are dependant on for-hire vessels to access the fisheries in the Gulf of Mexico.

Because we are concerned about the health of the for-hire fishery and want to achieve this now, we've developed our own plan to make it happen.

Our SOS plan seeks to improve fisheries management and promote a reliable way for the public to access and enjoy sport fishing, while achieving stability and better management for for-hire businesses.

The SOS plan aims to work within the current government system to begin achieving the following long-term goals:

  • Stop overfishing and continue to rebuild the fishery so we can maintain a viable for-hire industry
  • Achieve high accountability by counting all fish caught
  • Provide a reliable platform for the public to access and enjoy sport fishing
  • Build stability and value in for-hire businesses
  • Improve service to customers
  • Gain fair and equitable management
  • Give industry a say in management
